SSDP, University of Ghana paid a courtesy visit at the residence of "Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan," the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, who is also an Executive Member of the Chamber of Pharmacy, Ghana and the Vice Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Importers and Wholesalers Association, Ghana.
The team led by the Chapter President Clement Bofa-Oppong, shared the core vision and mission of SSDP during the engagements and urged her as both a major stakeholder in the pharmaceutical industry and a Parliamentarian to help expedite actions to hasten the passage of the "Narcotics Control Commission (NCC) Bill" which is currently before Parliament awaiting consideration into Law. This we believe as SSDPers will be a step towards reforming our current drug policies to see problematic drug users as citizens who need help through public health, rehabilitation, counseling, education, social integration etc and not subject them to Criminal Justice Systems with its associated incarceration, stigmatization, violence, punishment, social exclusion etc.
Hon. Seyram assured SSDP of her willingness an readiness to support our course and encouraged us to continue the good work we are doing.
Thanks, Maa Lydia for receiving SSDP, University of Ghana with such motherly love❤🇬🇭 🙌🏻🌷
